This is a steroid-free formula which is suitable for all skin types. It has a soothing and cooling effect giving instant relief, reducing the burning, inflammation, and itch-ing often associated with inflamed skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, sunburn, windburn, Post-Tattoo healing, and as a soothing after-shave balm

This formulation contains Aloe Vera as well as other low irritant ingredients, and can also be used as a beautiful, soothing, daily moisturiser

I have formulated this as both an ointment and a cream, with the ointment being a slightly heavier product suitable for very severe cases and for night time use, whereas the cream is a lighter product suitable for application several times a day if required.

The ointment has proved popular for treating and preventing Eczema, Dermatitis, Surfboard Rash, Bike Riders Bum, Runners Chaffing, Sunburn, Windburn, and as an After-Shave Balm

Both are available in a 50g (travel size) and a 250g size for your convenience and economy of use

 Eczema

Description:

Eczema is an itchy, scaly skin condition that comes and goes in flare-ups .The word Eczema comes from the Greek meaning to boil over

The most common form of eczema is called atopic dermatitis, although there are many of eczema, each with different causes and symptoms. Atopic eczema usually appears before the age of 5 years (in 90% of cases) and whilst it occurs more often in children (who grow out of it in 60-70% of cases) it can affect people of all ages.

Eczema is not contagious and is often linked to a family history of asthma and hay fever.

Signs and Symptoms:

Whilst every eczema sufferer experiences eczema differently there are some common symptoms including;

  • Moderate to severe itchiness in one or more areas

  • Dry, patchy or scaly red areas that look like a rash

  • Rough, thickened skin

  • Inflammation, pain, and tenderness of the skin

  • Sores that form by scratching and may ooze watery fluids

    Causes of Eczema:

It is a common belief that eczema is caused by food allergens, however this may not be true in every case.

The most common food allergens include; dairy and wheat products, citrus fruits, eggs, nuts, chemical food additives, preservatives, and colourings

Other trigger factors may include; dust mite, pet fur, pollens, cleaning agents, environment in which you live, tobacco smoke, stress, moulds, perfumes, certain metals (used in jewellery), cosmetics, harsh soaps, change in temperature or humidity, physical irritants such as synthetic or woollen clothing

    Treatments

There is no known cure for eczema, thus treatments aim to control the symptoms by reducing inflammation and relieving the itch

Daily cleansing and moisturising plays an important role in treating and preventing eczema and we have been getting very positive results with our soothing Nellies Intensive Moisturising Cream and Ointment which are available on this website

The choice of product/s used is very important as some may actually aggravate the eczema. Your Doctor may prescribe a topical steroid cream which will reduce the inflammation and soothe and stabilize the skin. However prolonged use of topical steroids can lead to a thinning of the skin after a number of years.

If a severe outbreak of eczema occurs your Doctor may also prescribe oral steroids to take, which usually bring a rapid improvement, but long term use is not recommended.

Anti-Histamines have been found to be useful in many cases as they stop the itch, which in turn stops the scratching, thus reducing the damage and irritation to the skin.

Taking a supplement of Fish Oil and/or Evening Primrose Oil has been shown to provide relief for a lot of eczema sufferers

Probiotics, which are live organisms taken by mouth, have also been shown to improve eczema symptoms in some people.

Oatmeal is a common ingredient used to relieve itching and is available in some skin cleansers

Here's what eczema sufferers are saying about it:

My husband Steve has been an eczema sufferer his entire life, and our daughter Kyleigh has eczema as well. We have tried possibly every eczema treatment available, without much luck until now.

Nellies Intensive Moisturising Cream and Ointment developed by David Christie has proven to be extremely effective at soothing the constant itch of inflamed skin caused by eczema. We have found that by using Nellies Intensive Moisturising Cream and Ointment regularly we have greatly reduced the need for steroid ointments, which over a period of time cause the skin to thin.

We are thrilled to have been introduced to Nellies Intensive Moisturising Cream and Ointment and would recommend it to anyone who suffers from eczema

I have suffered from a very irritating skin condition for more than 15 years. During the summer months, I get an unbearable itch which drives me crazy, which no doctor has been able to diagnose nor treat with cortisone creams or any other topical ointment.

Purely by chance, I was given a small tub of Nellies Intensive Moisture Ointment to try. It immediately soothed the itch, and provides instant relief to something which has driven me crazy for Years!

    Thank you David!

    Kind Regards,
